I read an article online that said Tron:Legacy was not considered a successful sequel. To that i say: “…WHAT?!” *safety off, gun cocked* “What exactly wasn’t successful about this sequel?”

But it’s no joke that I ❤ Tron:Legacy. I haven’t seen such a visually stunning and all-around satisfying movie in a long time – I saw it at least 5x in theatre, even driving over 45 minutes to see it at the gigantic IMAX screen (Over 2 stories tall!). The MAKEUP in that movie! The makeup artist for Tron also did the makeup for Sucker Punch (Ah, now it all makes sense!), and you can find all of her amazing info (and face charts!) on her blog.
For this look I broke out my Sugarpill once again and created a black and blue smokey eye that *doesn’t* look like I got punched in the face. Win!
Quorra is super sleek in her appearance; edgy, futuristic, yet more human than the Sirens and other programs. Her skin is still glowy, but not as reflective as, say, Gem’s skin is. I wanted the focus to be on the eyes for this look. Quorra has a similar color scheme to her eyes, and I just love how it looks – black and blue with a definite wing creating the ultimate blended cat eye.
Since I was headed to the office for the day, I decided to tone it down by ditching the cat eye element and going for a more simple, rounded shape.
Have you ever seen so much curl in lashes?? I didn’t curl my lashes before applying Cannonball and they still look like that. Amazing!

So I’m trying out a new series on here – “Inspired By…”! I’ve been looking for ways to get out of my mini makeup rut, and so I thought looking for inspiration in my favorite things would be fun. As I just finished watching the entire A:TLA, and the new series is coming out next year (Yayyy!), I decided to start there!
Princess Yue
First up is a look inspired by Princess Yue of the Northern Tribe!
Since Yue is a princess who is proper and obedient on the outside, but has so much going on inside, I thought I would go for something that looks pretty minimal when my eyes are open, but looks more dramatic when they are closed.
This is the eye look that I started with. I thought it was interesting to leave the gap in blue on the top lashline, transferring the blue instead down to the middle of the lower lashline. Doing that added something extra to the look, and made my eyes appear wider. Since Yue is super wide-eyed, I wanted to try to recreate that. I think it worked out well! But I felt like it needed something more… More blue! After all, she is from the mighty Northern Water Tribe. 🙂
In the cartoon, Yue has an obvious wing to her eyes, but I didn’t want to use any black liner for this. It felt like it would be too harsh. So I made the cat-eye effect with the shape of my shadow instead! I really like how this turned out! I think if I did it over, I would make the crease color extend to line up with where the blue on the lash line ends.

As far as the beauty world is concerned, the ‘Sensational’ lippies are about 100,000,002 years old. However, since there are over 54 shades (not including the Pearl or High Shine lines), we are still unearthing colorful gems from within the massive (and overwhelming) Maybelline drugstore displays.

But it was always the one slot in the display that never had a lipstick in it. Sadface. So I figured, hey I might as well try one out… Pink is nice. Pink is safe. (Two descriptions that should have warned me right then and there that I was going to pick out something I’d hate. After all, I was after Red!) So on I looked.
The first Color Sensational lipstick I tried was Born With It, which appeared to be a pretty pinky-nude in the tube but pulled a Blackbird (The jet in X Men. What? It turns invisible, come on.) when I put it on. Needless to say I was disappointed. So that complete lack of pigmentation, paired with the fact that the lipstick smelled like Play Doh, was enough to make me say NO MORE. I would never pick up one of those crappy things again! They all sucked, every last one of them!

Then I saw this post at EBeautyBlog and was shocked. Why did it look like she had color on her lips? And not just color, awesome, pigmented gorgeousness. Maybe some of the Color Sensational lipsticks were worth a try.
So I went to Wally World and bought Fuchsia Fever and -dun dun DUN!!!- Red Revival!

They still smell terrible in the bullet, but I don’t care. I’ve heard some of them smell, some of them don’t, some of them smell good… Apparently something in the formulas is inconsistent (scent, pigmentation), but these two are absolute WINS. My camera couldn’t even handle the bright, bright yumminess that is FF, but I think RR is pretty color accurate. I ❤ them both and highly recommend these two colors!

Sugarpill is a makeup brand devoted to bold, bright colors and high quality products. I bought one of their four-shadow pallets (The Sweetheart Pallet) and and two individual pressed shadows (Bulletproof and Buttercupcake).
I ordered it on a Friday, it shipped on Monday and I received it the following Friday. It felt like forever because I was so excited about getting them; but one week for delivery, especially since I ordered on a Friday, was really good, especially from an ‘indie’ makeup brand. And look at this cute little shipping box!
Anywho, on to the products! They arrived in the coolest packaging ever.
I also ordered some stickers and got a free sample of Goldilux loose shadow, along with a really pretty Sugarpill business card.
The pallet looks amazing, and though it’s not plastic, it is made from a sturdy cardboard (no, it’s not cheap feeling at all!) and doesn’t get smudgy finger prints on it.
The mirror on the inside is huge in comparison to a compact mirror, and the shadows look AMAZING. I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw them. The swatches on the website are exactly the colors I saw when I opened the pallet, which is rare even when dealing with high-end brands. I could tell a lot of effort went into making the swatches accurate, unlike other brands I have seen who Photoshop and color-correct their site swatches.

These shadows are so pigmented it’s RIDICULOUS. Here are the swatches.The two lines in the middle are over Too Faced Shadow Insurance, the two on the outside ends are over nothing. (i.e. nothing, TFSI, TFSI, nothing)

Bulletproof looks like it had shimmer in it, but it doesn’t show up at all when applied – this black looks completely matte on the lid.
Midori and Afterparty are the easiest to apply, because they are not entirely matte.They are both bright and true-to-color, and they are GORGEOUS.
Dollipop is freakishly pigmented and insanely bright, definitely a standout matte pink. I can’t think of any dupe for Dollipop. But let me warn you, it tends to stain the skin for some reason. So be ready to use oil-based eye makeup remover or look a little strange. haha.
Buttercupcake is the shadow I had the highest expectations for – I’ve been trying to find a pigmented yellow for like 3 years. Every yellow shadow I tried applied sheer and made me look like my liver was failing. But Sugarpill did it right, ya’ll! It’s so bright I couldn’t get it to photograph well, which means it’s everything I wanted and more! It’s not only opaque, it applies like a dream. It’s a true matte, bright yellow color. This is true love, people.
Tako seems to swatch a little bit powdery, but it’s not that way at all when I use it normally. It’s a great highlight color, and goes on SO smoothly.
Overall: I will never stop using these shadows. They.Are.Amazing. They really reminded me to be adventurous – I thought I would never use Dollipop (part of me was sure I would look somehow diseased), but once I tried it, there was no going back. I will never not wear hot pink eyeshadow again. As long as it’s Dollipop.
Also, looking at the swatches, you can see that even without primer, these babies are gonna show up well. As for wear, I haven’t tried them without primer (darn you, oily lids!!!) but I have a feeling they might stand up to it… If you try it let me know!
A note on brush usage – I’ve noticed that Dollipop and Afterparty, moreso than the rest of the pressed shadows, really stain my brushes, so be prepared to use a separate brush for each (unless you don’t care, lol).

I think next time I’ll go for a stronger pink cheek (Maybe NYX Hot Pink cream blush instead of MAC Sweet William?). The first picture shows the cheek color pretty accurately, but I need to figure out camera settings that don’t wash me out.
I can’t wait to finish off my Ultra Liner and get another kind of liquid liner – this one dried out and got a bit clumpy, and it’s almost impossible to go over any line I make more than once, it either wipes the first line away or makes the line cake and crack when it dries.
