Review: Wet N Wild MegaEyes Black Creme Liner

30 Nov

The next few beauty-centric posts are gonna deal with eyeliner! Woo!

Ever since Wet N Wild revamped their products, they seem to have flooded the beauty blogging world. I can’t tell you how awesome I think this is! The fact that you can now buy necessary, quality beauty items at more than reasonable prices (especially when there’s a sale!) is so important, especially in these hard economic times.

The Wet N Wild product I’m reviewing today is the black Creme Liner from their MegaEyes line. I think it’s important to note that, while similar, this is not a gel liner like MAC Fluidline. (A misconception I was under when I bought it.) It has a slightly thicker consistency, but it is by no means difficult to work with. It’s actually quite lovely! Even using the strangely wide brush that comes with it (I don’t think the brush is that great, as you can see in the swatch it doesn’t make a thin line), the creme liner applies smoothly and easily. It dries down to a matte finish and seems to stay fairly well.

I will say that I have a problem with eyeliners in general. They all seem to melt off when put anywhere that’s not right above my upper lashline. Unfortunately this one is no different. However, I love using this when I am doing a look just for a photo. If I’m taking it off in 10 minutes anyway, wear time doesn’t matter!

It looks like an alien space ship! ^_^

So I have an important event to go to tomorrow, and I wanted to do something special for my nails! I’ve never done a design like this before, but I wanted to use both of the new Ulta polishes I got, so it was the perfect choice. 🙂 (excuse my awful nails/cuticles, the falsies I had on ripped everything up!)

1 coat of Seche Vite Base Coat

3 coats Ulta Salon Formula in Celebutante

Ulta Salon Formula in Army of 1 (green stripe)

Kiss Nail Art Paint no-name (silver sparkle)

NOTD: OPI Pros & Bronze

29 Oct

Orly ‘Rock Solid’ lasted on me for about 4 days before I couldn’t stand it anymore and had to change polish (I have a problem, I know lol). So next up was OPI ‘Pros & Bronze’!

This is such a unique polish, and one I wouldn’t normally wear. It came in the set with ‘Love is a Racket’ (oh, so pretty!) so I got it, and I don’t regret it at all. Awesome pink, gold, and bronze flecks that look super shimmery-shiny. I got so many compliments when I wore it!

Fair warning, though, as seems to be one of those polishes that doesn’t get along with my Seche Vite top coat very well (There’s a bit of pulling at the tips as you can tell).

Polishes Used (In Order):

3 coats OPI Pros & Bronze

1 coat Seche Vite Top Coat

NOTD: Orly Rock Solid

28 Oct

Sorry for the absence, been going through some stuff-and-things, the usual rigamarole, but since this post has been sitting here waiting to be written for a while, I decided to put it out of its misery and share. 🙂

I bout Orly Rock Solid as soon as I saw it, and it didn’t disappoint. It looks AMAZING in real life, and pretty dang good in photos, too.

These are all in direct sunlight, and don’t seem to do the polish a bit of justice, but I loved the mani and wanted to share. 🙂

Note: This was one of the few times that I got a professional manicure (Hence the fancy flower… I wanted acrylics! ^_^) so I can’t yet comment on ease of application/number of layers. But just look at the results!

NOTD: Teal of Fortune

Outdoors

This, like How I Me Your Magenta, was very watery, but ToF was even more difficult to work with. It pooled around my cuticles and gathered at the tips of the nail.

It did look really pretty for the 2 days I wore it (2 days until my first chip/major tip wear) and you couldn’t tell the uneven coverage in real life, but you can definitely see it in the pictures. Sad, since this is such a pretty color for a good price. I wouldn’t recommend it for the simple fact that it stains terribly! My nails were yellow/green and the tips of my fingers were blue-green for the next two days, even though I tried to get the stain off with pure acetone. Sadface.

NOTD: Be a Dahlia, Won’t You?

I love the jelly and glass-fleck finish of this polish. It’s a hot-hot-hot pink that flashes blue. I can’t rave about this color enough! Application is flawless, but I should have used 3 coats instead of 2. It’s a glass-fleck, after all, and they need a bit of help to be completely opaque. 🙂

FOTD: Electric Lines

22 Aug

Note: These pics were taken about 4 hours after application, after I had run errands. Hence some shiny skin and faded blush. 🙂

I think this is a great way to add some color to your day without it being garish. It’s also a fool-proof method to trying out yellow eyeshadow! I really need to find a good, pigmented white eyeliner pencil. NYX Milk does give Buttercupcake the extra boost it needs to bring out its amazing color, but by the end of the day it just didn’t hold up as a liner base… It has too much slip and too many oils in it to keep from melting and sliding in the hot AZ summer.

Products Used:

Face

Revlon Age Defying concealer in 002

Revlon ColorStay Combo/Oily in 200 Nude

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Cream Light 4-5

Benefit Coralista

Eyes

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Candlelight

NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk (apply as liner where the yellow will go. Extend out past the eye corner.)

Sugarpill Buttercupcake (apply over Milk as liner on the top lash line)

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eyeliner in Electric (outer 1/2 lower lashline)

Sugarpill Afterparty (apply with a damp liner brush over UD Electric and extend the line out to match the yellow liner. It’s ok for it to be a bit smudgy since the yellow is so precise.)

Urban Decay Virgin (brow highlight)

Urban Decay Cannonball waterproof mascara (1 coat each on top and bottom lashes)

Lips

MAC Creme d’Nude

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Tanned

NOTD: The Show Must Go On + Firework

13 Aug

Kleancolor Firework over OPI The Show Must Go On (indirect sunlight)

*drools*

I bought Firework a few weeks ago, but hadn’t been able to find the right polish to layer it over. It’s got an orange tinted base that doesn’t go with a lot of other polishes. Finally I picked TSMGO because it has that gorgeous gold/red duochrome to it, which I thought would complement the orange in FW without using an orange polish. Hooray for glittery goodness!

For some reason this mani reminds me of Ponyo:

Polishes Used (In Order):

1 coat of Seche Vite Base Coat

2 coats OPI The Show Must Go On (Burlesque Collection)

1 coat Kleancolor Firework

2 coats Seche Vite Top Coat
